BJE staff members were recipients of half of the awards presented at the Jewish Communal Professionals of Southern California (JCPSC) 30th Annual Awards Banquet on June 9, 2010 at 5PM. The four BJE staff members who received awards at Sephardic Temple are Monise Neumann, Debra Markovic, Rachel Donitz Kaplan, and Dr. Gil Graff. JCPSC, a professional association which provides networking opportunities and continuing education to Jewish communal workers, conferred seven awards upon nine Jewish professionals at the banquet.

The Mark Meltzer New and Innovative Programming Award was presented to Debra Markovic and Rachel Kaplan, BJE’s Concierges for Jewish Education. Debra Markovic, the BJE ‘city’ Concierge, graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in English, and earned a MA in Education from American Jewish University. Prior to joining BJE, Debra worked in literacy remediation for a private educational clinic in Los Angeles. Debra is married with three children, all of whom attended or currently attend BJE-affiliated Jewish schools in Los Angeles.
