Student competition launched to celebrate new Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise during Global Entrepreneurship Week


To celebrate the launch of the new Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise, University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is holding a writing competition for students in Cambridge schools around the world.

The competition asks students to research an entrepreneur and look at what he/she has achieved, what the students have found inspirational about the entrepreneur and what one key question they would like to ask.

Cambridge launched the new qualification to equip young people with the education, skills and information needed to become entrepreneurs. With many of today’s Cambridge learners going on to enjoy success running their own businesses or working within large, multinational organisations which value entrepreneurial skills as a vital part of innovation and growth, the new qualification will bring the world of enterprise into the classroom.

Already, a number of schools across the world which are piloting the new qualification.

Neeru Kapoor, Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise teacher at Livingstone Kolobeng College in Botswana said: “The practical knowledge our students gain, throughout their Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise studies, is of paramount importance in preparing them for life outside the school. It touches on all the areas need to run a business”,

Michelle Chapman from Springbank School in New Zealand said: “Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise is an internationally recognised qualification that develops and measures a student’s individual skills in enterprise and entrepreneurship, while teaching practical skills such as problem-solving, risk-taking, perseverance and teamwork.”

The Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise Student Writing Competition was launched at the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) annual conference held in Nice, France on 19 November.
