In 2006 Coach Ben Parks partnered with Angel Tree ministries and Stanford University to host a free football clinic for children of prisoners and at-risk kids. Coach recruited several men that he had mentored over the years to serve as coaches for the kids. As more than 125 children came to that first clinic, they were welcomed and instructed by Coach Parks, Stanford football players, and NFL greats. The event was a huge success and has continued ever since.
On August 19, two days before the scheduled 2011 football clinic, Coach Parks passed away in his sleep. Several of the men he impacted – including 49er champions Keena Turner, Eric Wright, and Ronnie Lott – stepped up to lead the Football Clinic, love the kids, and continue the legacy coach had started.
“Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain or accomplish for yourself. It is what you do for others.” – Coach Ben Parks
