Why Stanford University Students Showed Solidarity To Rape Victim at Graduation



Stanford’s graduation day was more than just a celebration of students earning their degrees. Students used the ceremony as a platform to express anger towards the six-month sentence given to former student Brock Turner, who was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. Marchers held signs and chanted in solidarity for the victim. Keynote speaker Ken Burns addressed the incident during his commencement speech to students and parents.
