Kolodzik, Brucki Post Perfect Sundays, But Tigers Fall To Top-25 Duo – GoPrincetonTigers.com

Nationally ranked underclassmen Matthew Kolodzik and Patrick Brucki posted perfect days, while junior Mike D’Angelo nearly pulled off a Top-5 upset, but the overall depth of a pair of ranked programs was too much for Princeton Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind. Princeton dropped a pair of matches to Big 10 squads, falling 29-17 to 24th-ranked Purdue, and then 28-10 to eighth-ranked Michigan.

Kolodzik, ranked seventh at 149, scored a first-period fall against Purdue to put the Tigers on the board, and he followed later in the day with an 8-3 decision over Michigan’s Malik Amine. The 2017 All-American and EIWA champion improved to 11-3 with the pair of victories.

Brucki moved into the Top 20 before Midlands and has thrived in that position. After a fifth-place performance at Midlands, which included a decision over #5 Jake Smith, Brucki posted a technical fall over Purdue and a decision over Michigan to complete his own perfect day. The freshman leads the team with 16 victories on the season.

One of his nearest competitors on the team is D’Angelo, who pinned Purdue’s Griffin Parriott in 4:20 for his 13th win of the season. He made a push at 14 in dramatic fashion, but he was unable to get a late takedown in a 4-3 loss to fifth-ranked Alex Pantaleo of Michigan.

Princeton’s next road trip won’t be quite as long as the current one. The Tigers will make the short trip up Rt. 1 to take on Mercer County rival Rider, currently ranked 22nd, in a 1 pm match on Saturday, Jan. 13, and then the Tigers will return home for a 5 pm match against Franklin & Marshall on the Ivy League Network.
