Princeton Improves to No. 15 in CWPA Varsity Poll, Tops Concordia, 14-9 –

IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 15 Princeton Tigers extended its winning streak to seven with a 14-9 decision over the Concordia Eagles, 14-9, at the Wollett Aquatics Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Four different Tigers registered hat tricks in the game.
Kasey Bersh stopped eight shots to earn her third career victory.
Concordia got within three, 11-8, but Princeton put the game away with three straight tallies in the fourth quarter.
Tied at 1-all, Princeton went on a 4-0 spurt, holding Concordia without a goal for almost 11 minutes. Haley Wan‘s goal with 34 seconds left in the first half gave the Tigers a 6-2 lead at halftime.
After combining for eight goals in the first half, the two teams recorded 10 tallies in the third quarter. The two foes went back and forth before Princeton snagged two consecutive goals, taking a 10-5 advantage. The Eagles ended the stanza with two of the last three goals, setting the score at 11-7 after 24 minutes.
Concordia scored the first goal of the fourth frame, but head coach Becca Dorst‘s squad got tallies from Amy Castellano, Wan and Paige Thompson that put the game away. Wan’s three goals gave her 199 in her career.

Princeton improved to No. 15 in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll, the conference announced today. Calif., and Stanford are tied at the top of the poll. The Tigers’ opponent tomorrow, USC, is No. 3. Michigan is ranked as the top squad in the CWPA at No. 9. The Tigers take on No. 3 USC Thursday (Mar. 22) at 8 p.m. (5 p.m. PT).
