A prominent football footballer and his cousin were the last young adults to have been arrested as part of a seven-month murder and robbery investigation in Douglas County, authorities said.

Jalen Malik Morgan, 17, grand catcher at Alexander High School in Douglasville, and 19-year-old cousin Leandrea Latroy Morgan, were arrested on January 8 and accused of involvement in a plot to monitor death. by Lalan Baylor, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Five others were arrested earlier in the homicide investigation, which began after Baylor's death in May 2018. Others include:

• Rodney Bernard Berry, 21 years old;

• Barry D. McClain, 22 years old;

• Erica Tereice Curry, 19;

Baylor was not the target, according to Douglas Channel Sheriff's charges, obtained by Channel 2. He was allegedly involved in the plot to commit an armed robbery against McClary.

The documents allege that the suspects attempted to steal McClary on the Anneewakee Falls Subdivision on May 30, 2018.

Curry is accused of having attracted McClary to the place in a car driven by Drake. Berry, McClain and Baylor apparently waited to steal McClary at gunpoint. The forces of the order have described this as "robbery gone wrong".

When McClary arrived, one of the suspects would shoot him and return the favor, killing Baylor, according to the indictment. Baylor was shot once and died at Douglas WellStar Hospital.

McClary was arrested in July and Curry, Berry, Drake and McClain were arrested in August.

The Morgans are accused of being observers and circulating in the neighborhood during the shooting.

Police Sgt. Jesse Hambrick told Channel 2 that it was the latest arrests planned in this investigation.

"These last two were the last two that the police were waiting for, and they are ready to go ahead from there," Hambrick said.

Jalen and Leandrea Morgan are both facing charges of murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to the records of the Douglas County Jail.

Jalen Morgan participated in 45 receptions, over 500 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Berry, McClain, Curry, Drake and McClary face charges of murder and aggravated assault, according to prison records. McClary faces additional charges of parole and possession of a firearm by a convicted criminal.

Both were denied bail, reported Channel 2.
