SEATTLE – Latest news in winter in the Pacific Northwest:

Heavy snow has passed through parts of Puget Sound including Issaquah, Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Seattle. The radar indicated snow from Pierce and King counties east to the Canadian border.

KOMO News meteorologist Abby Acone said the snow was starting to clear at 8:30 PM. and should be "substantially over" at 11 pm

The Washington State Patrol virtually begged drivers on the road to slow down after two patrol cars were involved in an accident at I-90 and Barker. A soldier was taken to hospital with injuries that did not put his life in danger.

Parts of the Pacific Northwest already buried by a winter storm are beginning to receive new snowfall.

The National Meteorological Service reported that light snow had begun to enter the interior lowlands on Sunday afternoon. The snow flurries should be strong at times and continue in the evening.

Residents more accustomed to rain than to snow were retreating from a winter storm while preparing more.

Snow amounts range from 2.5 to 7.6 cm (3 to 3 inches) until Sunday evening.

According to the Seattle Times, the storms brought more snow to Seattle in the early days of February than usual in a year.
