SUMMIT, NJ – The summer winds of change announce at Kent Place School, with Kooheli Chatterji being named the new principal of the college, effective July 1st.

Kent Place School is an independent, non-sectarian, high school junior high school for young women with a mixed kindergarten.

"I am truly honored and excited to join the Kent Place School community," Chatterji said. "During my stay on campus and my conversations with students, teachers, parents and administrators, I have felt the very obvious and powerful dedication to learning and growing. Kent Place's tradition of academic excellence and the fact that it focuses on the well-being of teens at this pivotal time in their lives, and I can not wait to play green and gold this summer. "

A seasoned college administrator and educator, Chatterji is a champion of youth and an accomplished leader in building healthy and equitable communities. For the past five years, she has led the Intermediate and Senior Schools Division of Chatham Day School, where she is responsible for overseeing all programs, faculty, staff and students from the fourth to the eighth grade. year, as well as the day-to-day management of activities. the division. Prior to Chatham Day, she was a college dean, an English student, and a coach at Pingry School in Basking Ridge.

Specializing in the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion in education, Mr. Chatterji has also been Program Director and Director of Alumni Affairs at SEEDS in New Jersey. She believes that middle school students are able to create authentic bonds and develop a respect for the different environments of each.

In addition to her reputation as a clear and confident communicator, Chatterji brings a deep appreciation to girls' education, empathic listening and the need to make mission-based decisions. She is enthusiastically drawn to the mission and community of Kent Place.

"Chatterji's experience as a Curriculum Leader, as well as his experience and commitment to working closely with students, teachers and parents, has deeply impressed our research committee," said Jennifer. Chatterji graduated from an independent school and obtained a BA in English Literature from Wesleyan University. She is an avid reader, loves to write and music and spends time with her daughter and husband.

"Kooheli understands the inner dynamics of college students as well as the complex group dynamics they are part of," said David Lowry, current chairman of NJAIS 'board of directors and former acting director of Chatham Day School. "She respects the respect of her faculty and parents and masters the development of teaching programs and teaching methods. As I have said many times, "If my high school kid was supported by Kooheli, I would sleep peacefully at night."

Chatterji succeeds Karen Rezach, who has led Kent Place Middle School for 18 years. Dr. Rezach was appointed full-time director of the Kent Place School Institute of Ethics in July 2018.
